Sad news for digital DJs

Not so much of a post as a quick obituary; poor old DJDownload.com went in to administration, according to this article, only to be brought out at the last moment by Juno... more than a bit of a shame really, it was definitely better than Beatport/3Beat and it's good to have options/competition, ey? So looks like Juno are keeping the website afloat for now, and later on the brands will merge... DJDownload.com, you will be missed!

About town tonight? If you've had your ear to the ground/don't live under a proverbial nightlife rock, you'll know all about the Rabid Music festival at seOne tonight... anyone whose anyone from House and Techno camps, and everything in between... from Umek, Deepgroove, the WetYourself and Ketoloco peeps, and your familiar Shoreditch faces like FB Julian et al... tickets still (at time of writing) available here... go go go!

Other than that, head down to Egg if you're living in winter denial for Key Of Life - Ibiza Calling and let the house sounds of the island drain the rain from your shoes!

And on a brief note, there's Trentemoller @ Matter, a hell of a lot of good dubstep over at the Rhythm Factory, and that stalwart Timo Garcia doing an exclusive jobbie at the frankly far-out Lightbox...

So essentially bloody loads to do. Get stuck in. Forget about SAD and get on your dancing shoes... you know it makes sense... ciao for now!

***FRITAG!***

Another week, another dollar or lack thereof... and bleedin 'eck, govna, we're spoilt for choice tonight! Just a few of the corners of the capital that might intice your dancing feet and drinking bellies include...

Border Comminity night @ Corsica Studios: Superb lineup for all you minimalist/electronica lovers... Nathan Fake, James Holden, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet)... if you haven't been down to Corsica yet, make tonight the night...

Like it a bit racier? The Plump DJ's legendary HeadThrash night returns to Fabric, with Adam Freeland in tow and Trouble & Bass presenting an eclectic mix of bassbin-bothering upstarts in room 2

iGoLoco's recommendation? The awesome Allez-Allez over at the Horse & Groom, what with their classy yet off-the-wall mixup of all things 4/4. We like, a lot. Free before 11, for you student types :P

Other news? well, the NYE lineups are beginning to emerge, and surely one of the big ones to watch is Get Loaded In The Dark at the Brixton Academy... there really isn't another venue like it in London. Tickets are bound to sell out with artists such as Simian Mobile Disco, Chase & Status and Sub Focus on the decks... if it's your kind of thing, I'd say snap up some tickets sharpish...

Over yonder in Birmingham, Faithless are hitting up Gatecrasher for this special event... damn lucky brummies...

Here's to the weekend... glug glug! :D

God bless Guy Fawkes...

... can't blame a guy for trying ;)

Well this looks like the gig of a lifetime: Prodigy, Pendulum, Chase & Status et al.. at the Milton Keynes Bowl no less! Biggest gig of their career, 24 June, roll up roll up... if it's anything like their set at Glasto last summer, it'll be worth going to Milton Keynes for and getting lost in a maze of roundabouts...

Also, Circo Loco announced a New Year's Day shindig for all you 'can't stop won't stop' types (it runs from 6pm-6am)... full article on DT here.

In terms of not-so-good-news (haha), that Dutch trance atrocity Tiesto has announced he'll be playing a gig at Victoria park this summer. On the plus side, he'll be supported by those funky Aussies Sneaky Sound System who we rather like.

Out of new tunes? iGoLoco's been loving Natural Self's LP 'My Heart Beats Like A Drum', bit of a downtempo gem... read about it here or buy it from iTunes by clicking here. Laavley.

Graffin' round Shoreditch

Check out this awesome graffiti project, 'The Walls Have Eyes', where artists Jimi Crayon and Stika depict the effects that cocaine, cannabis and ecstasy have on our eyes when driving... just get the tube people! (even if this entails unwittingly having it large to the clinks and clunks like the other Saturday morning casualties...). iGoLoco will be having a gander...

Gatecrasher Album givaway...

Over at Skiddle they're giving 10 Copies of Gatecrashers Club Anthems away...: "Club Anthems encapsulates another sound and resonance of the infamous lion's roar from the early 90s through to present day from Sneaker Pimps and Gat Dcor to Prodigy and Faithless to Guru Josh and Deadmau5>"
